Natural church development is a survey given to 30 church members and the pastor to determine how the church scores of 8 quality characteristics of growing churches. The results of these surveys are compared to the results of churches in all 50 states as well as 32 countries across the Globe. The 8 characteristics cover things like how well our leaders empower their parishioners, how effective the structures in our church are, how inspiring our services are and how well we as a congregation use our gifts to do God’s will.

After comparing the results of over 1,000 churches it was discovered that although it is possible to grow without scoring high in every category, every single church that achieved a quality index of over 64 in all 8 of the characteristics is growing. By releasing and developing the potential that God has put into our church the growth will occur by itself.
